Consider this your go-to guide for planning engagement photos that feel natural, relaxed, and super you.

Where to Take Jersey Shore Engagement Photos

Jersey Shore has a wide variety of options to choose from for engagement photos, all with their own unique and fun vibe. Here are a few of my favorites!

Seaside

Seaside, New Jersey has that classic shore vibe that’s both relaxed and full of character. You can grab some fun, candid shots along the boardwalk and then head down to the beach for something a little softer and more romantic.

Asbury Park Boardwalk

Asbury Park is such a fun mix of artsy and beachy. You can wander past murals, pop into cute little storefronts, and then head straight to the sand, as everything’s super close. It’s colorful, lively, and perfect if you want photos with a little extra personality.

Cape May Beaches

Cape May has this timeless, romantic feel with its pastel homes, calm waves, and Victorian charm. The sunsets here are absolutely breathtaking, and there are plenty of quiet spots along the beach and dunes for soft, dreamy photos.

Sandy Hook

If you’re into a more relaxed, natural vibe, Sandy Hook is such a good option. You’ll find expansive beaches, rolling dunes, and even the historic buildings at Fort Hancock for something different. It’s a great option if you want beautiful scenery without tons of crowds.

Ocean City Boardwalk + Beaches

Ocean City has that classic shore energy with ferris wheels, arcades, the boardwalk, all of it. It’s great for couples who want something fun and lighthearted, and then you can hop down to the beach for more romantic shots too.

When to Take Jersey Shore Engagement Photos

Spring

Spring at the shore is refreshing and breezy, with fewer crowds and softer light. It can still be chilly early on, but late spring is a sweet spot, as everything starts waking back up and you get those gentle pastel sunsets.

Summer

Summer is what the Jersey Shore is known for with its long warm nights, golden sunsets, and that glowing beach haze. Just plan around crowds; sunrise or weekday evenings are best if you want a quieter background.

Fall

Early fall might be the most underrated time for beach photos. The water is still warm, the crowds disappear, and you get beautiful warm light without the intense heat. Wear cozy sweaters on the boardwalk or soft neutral outfits in the dunes.

Winter

Winter brings a calm, moody vibe that’s actually stunning for photos if you don’t mind bundling up. The beaches are empty, the tones are soft, and you get a totally different (but gorgeous) atmosphere.

What to Wear for Jersey Shore Engagement Photos

Your outfit sets the tone, so think about the vibe of your location. If you’re shooting on a boardwalk, a more casual and relaxed outfit works great with jeans, simple tops, and comfy clothes that let you move naturally. For beach photos, flowy dresses or pieces that catch the wind always photograph beautifully. As far as colors go, I recommend sticking to neutral or soft colors since they blend perfectly with sandy and ocean tones and don’t clash with the background.

I also like to recommend avoiding really busy or distracting patterns, especially in a location like the boardwalk as there will already be a lot going on in the backdrop. But most importantly, you want to wear something that you feel confident in and comfortable, as this comes across in your photos!
